Five plumbing mistakes in multi-storey buildings

Undersized risers, missing vents and poorly placed shafts cause problems that are expensive to fix later.
Plumbing is often designed last and fitted around the structure. That is when problems start.
Common mistakes include undersized water risers, no vent pipes on soil stacks, shafts that clash with beams, tanks sized for fewer occupants than planned, and no access for maintenance.
Each of these is easy to avoid when plumbing is designed alongside the architecture and structure.
